Important Community Notice: Door-to-Door Solar Sales
We’ve received reports of individuals going door-to-door promoting home solar programs and claiming they are offered by the Municipality.
PLEASE NOTE:
West Hants Regional Municipality offers the Switch West Hants program, which helps finance energy efficiency upgrades, including solar.
Only contractors who are formally vetted and affiliated with the program are authorized to participate. If you’re unsure whether a contractor is affiliated with Switch West Hants, we encourage you to check first. Contact Switch West Hants at 902-601-1797 or email:

2026-03-17 Tax Sale

There is a Tax Sale scheduled for Tuesday, March 17, 2026. This Tax Sale will be held at 78 Thomas Street, Windsor, Nova Scotia. Doors will open for bidder registration at 8:30 a.m. and the auction will begin at 10:00 a.m. local time. Proper documentation is required if you are bidding on another person’s behalf.
Properties on the tax sale list are advertised in the local paper and can also be found at the link below. A list of properties can also be viewed at our office at 76 Morison Drive, Windsor. Please note the Municipality does not guarantee the accuracy of these property descriptions and makes no representations or warranties to any purchaser regarding the fitness, geophysical or environmental suitability of the land(s) offered for sale for any particular use and are being sold on an "as is" basis only. It is advisable to consult with a lawyer before purchasing a property. Land on the tax sale is HST applicable and will be calculated on the final bid price.

Terms of Sale
Taxes, interest and expenses, HST if applicable, plus $445.00 preparation and registration of the Certificate of Sale and Deed, is to be paid AT THE TIME OF SALE by cash, debit, certified cheque, money order, bank draft, irrevocable letter of credit or lawyer’s trust cheque and not otherwise. The balance of your bid, if any, shall be paid in like manner within three (3) business days of the sale.
Purchaser’s Rights
Purchasers should also be aware in Section 151 of the Municipal Government Act, it provides that purchasers do not have absolute rights in the six (6) months when redemption may occur and, therefore, are cautioned to only preserve, insure, and not alter the property. Any repairs require written permission of the Treasurer. A copy of these rights will be mailed to the purchaser along with the “Certificate of Sale”.

A Public Hearing will be held on February 24, 2026, during the regularly scheduled Council meeting beginning at 6:00pm, to consider the following application:
- Rezoning PID 45242112 Highway 1, Falmouth, from General Commercial (GC) to Highway Commercial (HC) and to amend Section 5.20 of the West Hants Land Use By-law (WHLUB) in order to permit a dog grooming and boarding business within the existing structure and outdoor exercise runs.
