West Hants Regional Municipality's Emergency Management Office (EMO) will host a minimum of three in-person education and awareness events a year (January - May - September).
These events are meant to be interactive (to some degree) and to help you:
- learn of potential risks & hazards in your area (and surrounding areas)
- how to prepare for an emergency
- what to do in an emergency, and
- recovery tips.

Minas Energy / CKF Halfway River Dam Education Session
Monday, June 10, 2024 - 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Location: Hantsport Fire Station Training Room, 5 Oak Street, Hantsport, NS (Park in the back; not at the front of the station)
Come learn about the geography of the dams, what they do, how they perform, who manages them, and so much more.
'Learn to be Prepared for the Next Emergency' Sessions
There will be guest speakers, interaction and activity while you:
- learn of risks & hazards in your community
- learn to prepare for an emergency
- what to do in an emergency, and
- recovery tips following an emergency
A BBQ will be held following each session (from Noon - 1 pm).
