The West Hants Ground Search and Rescue team is homebased in Mount Denson and are a registered Emergency Service Provider with West Hants Regional Municipality.
Their trained volunteer members provide services 24/7/365.
Some services include:
- assist the police in the event of a lost or injured person (locally and province-wide);
- assist West Hants Regional Municipality's Emergency Management Organization (EMO) as needed;
- use of the WHGSAR homebase as a warming centre during emergency situations;
- provide trained electronic search specialists for Project LifeSaver to local clients that have a tendency to wander from their caregivers. These include those with Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Down Syndrome, or Autism.
- assist with community events when requested.
