2020 Provincial Volunteer Awards

The 2020 Provincial Volunteer Awards will be held on September 28th (virtually via Facebook Live) at 12:00 pm broadcasting live from Pier 21 in Halifax. The West Hants Regional Municipality's Representative Volunteer is Effie Smith from Upper Burlington. 

The event will be hosted by Premier MacNeil along with The Honourable Arthur J. LeBlanc. The event will kick off with the presentation of the Lieutenant Governor’s Community Spirit Award and include the announcement of a new specialty award, The Nova Scotia Strong Award, in addition to recognition of your Volunteer Representatives, Family and Youth specialty awards.

It's recommended that guests sign-in to the event at 11:45 to view photos of award recipients followed by a musical performance with the Halifax Multicultural Drummers. 

Award-winning storyteller, writer and director, Juanita Peters will act as emcee of the event and Hali-famous florist and presenter, Neville MacKay will provide an animated and fun presentation for all, to close out the event.

Volunteer Representatives will be named in alphabetically order by region as follow:
Cape Breton Region
Central Region
Fundy Region
Highland Region
South Shore Region
Valley Region

Volunteers are one of the greatest assets a community can hold. The Community Development Department annually recognizes the outstanding efforts of individuals, groups, and youth who provide exemplary volunteer service.

Volunteer Award Nomininations 2020

In conjunction with Volunteer Week April 19th – 25th, 2020 the Community Development Department is seeking nominations for our Annual Awards Night. We ask you to nominate a deserving volunteer to be considered from your area. These volunteers may be individuals within your organization or others whom you feel are representative of volunteerism.
