Positive Aging Fall - Winter Programs

Chair Yoga is a gentle form of yoga practiced while seated in a chair or using a chair for support while standing and can be beneficial for older adults! Chair Yoga can help strengthen your muscles, improve your flexibility and coordination, help to reduce stress, boost your feelings of happiness and well-being, assist you in managing pain, and give you an opportunity to meet new people.

The Community Development Department Senior Bus Trips offer residents (55+) the opportunity to explore places in Nova Scotia they haven’t been to before and also to re-visit some old-time favorites.

Some of the trips we’ve done in the past include: Annapolis Royal Historic Tour and the Eastern Shore Seaside Christmas Crafts Trip.

As part of the Free Facility Access Grant program, the Community Department partners with the GFL Newport Recreation Centre in Brooklyn to offer free open skate times for Parents, Seniors & Tots. Helmets and adjustable child skate trainers are available to borrow at the rink.

For more information on dates/times, please see the Free Facility Access Newsletter: ***Link will become available when programming is on offer.
