The Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board (UARB) approved the amalgamation of the Three Mile Plains, Falmouth, and Hantsport Water Utilities into the West Hants Water Utility (see Board Order pdf
(903 KB)). In doing so, they also approved new water rates.
Changes in the water rates will be phased in over two years leading to a standardized charge for all water customers.
UARB Approved Adjusted Water Rates, effective July 1st, 2019 as follows:
Municipal Sewer Services
West Hants Council approved the amalgamation of the Three Mile Plains, Falmouth, and Hantsport sewer services. Sewer charges for residents in Falmouth and Three Mile Plains will now be shown on your water bill and will no longer be on your tax bill. The sewer charge will also change from a flat rate to one that is based on water consumption plus a base charge. If you have Municipal sewer service, you will see this change on your enclosed bill. Hantsport residents will now see a base charge for their sewer service in addition to their usual consumption charge.
The rate schedule for municipal sewer charges, effective April 1st, 2019 is shown below.
Please contact your Councillor or the our Water Utility Clerk, Cathy Curry, at 902-798-8391 extension 107, should you have any questions about the changes.
